An excellent introduction for the true beginner. Learn how a computer operates. What happens as it starts up? Proper care and operation of your computer. What to do if your computer malfunctions. Common mistakes and how to avoid them. How to find information on the Internet, e-mail basics, etc.

KEY CONCEPTS: 

Learn how to use the keyboard and mouse to "talk to your computer." Get experience using Click, double-click, Click-Hold-Drag, Right-Click mouse techniques. Learn about Icons, Windows, Menus, Toolbars, Radio Buttons, Drop-Down Lists, Scrollbars and how to use them. Learn how to start and exit programs. Create, save, open, close, and print files in Windows-based programs. 

COMPUTER TERMS: 

RAM, CPU, motherboard, and other common terms defined. Files and Folders defined. 

HARDWARE & SOFTWARE: 

Brief description of: Monitors, printers, CD-ROMs, floppy drives, hard drives, and modems. Learn what the different keys on the keyboard are for. Various types of software defined. 

PREREQUISITES: None. This class is for those with little or no computer experience. Good mouse skills are REQUIRED in all other PC classes. Without them you can’t keep up!
